This year has changed travelling as we knew it. Being located in Hong Kong, it was always easy to plan spontaneous trips in Asia and around the world. Unfortunately with various global restrictions on travel, we’ve all experienced some sort of lockdown no matter where we are in the world. I don’t think we’ve ever appreciated the luxury of being able to travel quite this much! Even though we can hardly plan an exciting overseas getaway, on the other hand, we’ve learned to discover local escapes within the city. It’s still so important for us to take time for mindful resets to the usual daily grind.
Recently, we spent a weekend at the TUVE Hotel in Hong Kong. The minimalist design of the boutique hotel and philosophy of the space is worth appreciating. Tucked away in the local neighbourhood of North Point, the inconspicuous entrance and contrasting interior environment really feels like you step into another little tranquil world.
There’s a sense of refinement within the space. The textures of concrete, steel, brassk, marble, oak and wired glass appear in different forms within the lobby, hallways and within the rooms. We opted for the spacious Premier Room featuring a king-size bed, a working concrete desk behind the bed and a super spacious walk-in shower. The custom designed wooden boxes opened up to the coffee and tea options which adds an interesting and mysterious design feature in the room.
Natural lighting worked into the balancing interior lighting and textures of the rooms. The space was calming in the day and in the night. A huge plus was the comforts in using Le Labo bath amenities, the extra soft bathrobes and enjoying a cup of Blooms drip coffee. To top the stay off, we had breakfast at SUPERHOOMAN before checking out. The buttermilk waffles with candied figs and walnuts - absolutely delicious!
It really was the perfect way to find an escape within the bustling city of Hong Kong. We hope everyone makes some time to switch off and discover unique staycations and other fun activities as the holiday season begins!
